Where to eat in Prince Edward Island!

Where to eat in Prince Edward Island!

I married an East Coast boy and every summer we travel to Prince Edward Island (PEI). Now this island may be small and quaint  but the culinary options are endless ;whether it’s lobster, oysters, mussels, clam chowder, steak or vegan this charming island has something for everyone. I hope this list helps make your culinary experience a bit easier.

A little about PEI:

PEI, the smallest province in Canada,  is located off the east coast of Canada in the Gulf go the St. Lawrence. PEI is nestled between the Atlantic provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. It’s capital city is Charlottetown.

PEI maybe small in size but there is something for everyone to love from quaint fishing villages, small charming towns, lighthouses, and  over 800 kilometres of sandy beaches. If you’re a foodie like myself there are plenty of culinary options, if you are a seafood lover you came to the right place.  Check out some of our favourite dining spots:

The landmark oyster house:

D and I have been coming here for years, it’s our little date spot. Located in Victoria by the Sea village, this family owned restaurant is charming, quaint,  and delicious. You’ll find some of the best seafood, not to mention local oysters, burgers and one of my favourites the beet and pecan salad.

The Inn at Bay fortune:

The Inn of Bay fortune is owned by famous chef Michael Smith;  if you’re a foodie ,like myself, you will enjoy unforgettable dinning experience.. The four hour farm to table  experience is the ultimate culinary experience.   This unique dining experience starts with a farm tour followed by oyster and  fire hor d oeuvres hour . The main event is  a multi course dinner using ingredients from the garden and local farms on a 25 foot  long open kitchen. Here you’ll see the staff working their magic, including Michael Smith.  To end the night, guests can enjoy  freshly made marshmallows over a campfire.  If you’re staying the night you’ll be treated to delicious breakfast using ingredients from the garden.

Cow’s Ice cream;

You scream, I scream, we all scream for  Cow’s ice cream. If you’re looking for some local high quality , unique flavours Cow’s creamery is your place, some people even say it’s the best ice cream in Canada. We make a few trips during our stay and the hardest part is choosing a flavour, I personally love the PEI strawberry , D loves orange pineapple and the girls love cow wowie. If you love “puns” make sure you check out their merchandise, each year they engage staff to come up with designs for shirts, a favorite this year was the ” the Eras farm tour”  Taylor Swift ERAS tour.

Prim Point chowder house!

Enjoy a delicious bowl of  fresh seafood chowder, lobster roll or mussels on the deck with a breath taking view of the Atlantic Ocean.If you’re looking for vegetarian options they have salads and sandwiches.  If you have kids they can search for seagrass while waiting for their food. My only tip is make sure you make a reservation, this place is hopping with customers.

Sea Rocket Oyster house:

If you visit PEI you must go to  the historic Victoria Row in downtown Charlottetown, the hardest part is choosing a restaurant. Every year we try a new restaurant, this year we went to the Sea Rocket Oyster house, home of the raspberry pint oysters. This oyster house serves fresh, locally sourced dishes from seafood to steaks to delicious salads in a charming environment.

No this is a just a small glimpse of the food scene on PEI. Every year we try something new. A restaurant I would like to go to is Dunnes, I hear their lunch menu is amazing, and place is .   Have you been to PEI?  If yes, what are your recommendations?
